COVID-19 Update and Action Plan
As the health of our students and staff is our top priority, we’re joining efforts to contain COVID-19 by transitioning all tutoring sessions online.
Last week, public and private education institutions across the nation, following counsel provided by CDC and WHO, set an example of leadership by taking precautionary measures to halt the spread of a new coronavirus.
Because North Avenue Education values the health and wellbeing of our community just as highly as we value providing elevated academic support, we’re following suit. Starting Monday, March 16th, we’re moving all tutoring sessions to our responsive online platform, complete with videoconferencing, math tools, and a real-time whiteboard.
If you’re a parent, you’ve received news about your student’s school’s shift to online learning. While many institutions are navigating the digital classroom for the first time, our team of tutors has been tutoring and coaching students online for years. We’re confident in the creativity of our approach, the longevity of our experience, and the flexibility of our technology to effectively prepare students virtually.
Until school resumes, you may wonder how your student will maintain momentum without in-person engagement and accountability. Indeed, a deep connection to materials and live instruction will be critical for many students who are required to continue learning outside the physical classroom. That’s what we’re here for.
Finally, a word to students and families wondering what coronavirus containment protocols will mean for their college admissions journey. Test site cancellations have affected many registered for the March SAT and April ACT; it’s yet to be seen if future test dates will be affected, or if testing agencies will offer additional dates. (For more info on test site closures, visit the official SAT and ACT websites.) Given the dedication many have made to study for these tests over the past few months, we recommend re-registering and testing as soon as possible, as schedules allow. May and June test dates will likely fill up, and August, September, and October are the last chances for early admission.
If you have questions, concerns, or want to discuss options for supporting your child through this uncertain season, reach out to our team.
As things move quickly, so will we. Together, we’ve got this.
