Metacognition is primary to Scott’s coaching philosophy. To facilitate growth and meet goals, he believes students must first understand their own learning processes.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Scott has taught in both secondary and higher education and has been tutoring professionally since 2005. He sees tutoring as an opportunity for any student to become a better learner. Scott specializes in coaching students with LD and is motivated by seeing his students transform their potential into action.
Meghan Ryan

An educator and creative at heart, Meghan brings both strategic vision and a deep love for collaborative problem-solving to her role. She is passionate about building systems that are people-centered, scalable, and rooted in equity – and she thrives when helping teams move from big-picture strategy to concrete, effective implementation.
Before joining North Avenue, Meghan led the project management and strategic planning team at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, where she spearheaded cross-agency initiatives and operational improvements. Her career began in the classroom as a 2012 Teach For America corps member in Washington, D.C., where she taught middle school science, art, and healthy relationships. Since then, her work has spanned instructional design, study abroad program development, and business systems design—all grounded in a commitment to meaningful, mission-driven work.
Sage Reynolds

Sage believes that learning is a lifelong process – one that thrives in environments rooted in trust, curiosity, and care. She understands that when students are supported by adults who encourage and allow them to make mistakes, they gain the confidence to take risks and grow into stronger learners.
With a background in youth advocacy, Sage has spent her career helping students navigate systems that weren’t always designed with them in mind. Before joining our team, Sage worked in both education and business development, including leading outreach efforts at Mama Lil’s. At North Avenue, Sage is excited to connect more students and families with holistic support that leads to transformative growth.

Dr. Anita Hasni Mohammad, PhD
Learning Science Advisor

Developmental and cognitive scientist. Faculty member at Georgia Tech's School of Psychological and Brain Sciences.
Dr. Anita holds a PhD in developmental psychology and cognitive sciences and brings more than 15 years of experience working with students and translating developmental research into practice. She advises North Avenue on our executive function curriculum. She co-developed our Essential Skills Assessment, the inventory students complete before their first coaching session, and shaped our approach on teaching neurodivergent students and learners with diverse cognitive profiles. She also leads live training sessions for our tutors and contributes to regular student progress meetings as a subject matter expert.
Alongside her faculty work at Georgia Tech, Dr. Anita is an independent research and evaluation consultant to the United Nations and mentors students through the Child Mind Institute's Youth Mental Health Academy.

Sophie has experience teaching a wide range of subjects, from SAT coaching to essay writing for admissions. Most recently, she was a tutor at an academy in Seoul, South Korea. Sophie takes pride in assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each student to curate an optimal environment that fosters a personal approach to learning.
