 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Both our online and in-person SAT and PSAT classes are equally effective in helping students develop the skills needed to achieve success. Deciding which format is best depends on a student’s preferred way of learning. We believe online SAT prep classes are ideal for digitally-savvy students who prefer flexible schedules, independent learning, and shorter classes (we limit online courses to 1.5 hours to avoid Zoom fatigue), while SAT prep in person is best for students who enjoy a traditional learning environment and are available to attend every session.

We hold our in-person SAT/PSAT classes in Portland and Lake Oswego. Our online SAT prep classes are available to anyone via Zoom.

  • For online SAT and PSAT classes, your instructor may be able to record the session for your review with advance notice. For in-person classes, you’ll receive a slide deck for the missed class and will have the opportunity to discuss what you missed in the free 1:1 SAT tutoring session included in your registration.

  • We practice interleaving, a learning technique that alternates between multiple subjects to keep students and tutors engaged. Generally, the first two-thirds of an SAT prep class are dedicated to introducing test material and strategies, and the last third is dedicated to review.

We’re committed to adapting courses to individual student needs, so each class's organization will look slightly different. The SAT prep tutor will share details on the structure at the beginning of the course and update students if and when changes arise.

  • Generally, there will be around 1-2 hours of homework assigned for each SAT class, although this can vary based on individual student needs. Practicing strategies learned in class is essential, so we believe homework completion is key to success in the course. SAT tutors will work directly with students to adjust homework requirements as needed.

  • We do not offer SAT score increase guarantees, nor do we track official scores or report on average gains. Each student’s SAT prep journey looks very different – from where they start to how long they prepare to how committed they are to improving. What we do guarantee is that every student will get the best support possible from our expert SAT and PSAT tutors, that we will be transparent throughout the process, and that we will be a reliable source of encouragement and information.

We will also be adaptive to whatever needs or challenges arrive. Students will work with their instructor to set reasonable goals, and for those ready to put in the work, significant gains are attainable.

  • Yes, we hold our classes year-round, with additional availability for summer SAT prep classes.
