Tutor Spotlight: Aidan Sigman

Meet Aidan.

We caught up with one of our expert tutors recently to hear about his experience tutoring students. A seasoned SAT and ACT strategist with a perfect GRE score, Aidan's approach is both systematic and flexible, adapting to the individual needs of his students, whether crafting comprehensive curricula or providing targeted tutoring that transcends traditional methods.

What's one thing you love about tutoring?

I love helping students get to their lightbulb moments. Watching their understanding finally click into place is a true joy.

How do you keep students engaged During tutoring sessions?

I design my lessons around student participation. Watching someone lecture at the front of the classroom for hours on end is totally boring. I pack my curriculum with questions that my students and I can work through together and I consistently highlight how what we’re doing will help students reach their goals.

What's one study tip every student should know?

Make your own study sheet and practice writing it out regularly. You'll remember it way better than something you just try to passively memorize.

What was your favorite class in high school and why?

Calculus was probably my favorite class. It was the first time I felt like I was actually understanding math rather than just memorizing formulas.

share an example of a student you were proud of for reaching their goals.

I had one student who came to me convinced that they were absolutely terrible at math. By the time we finished studying for the GRE together, they were faster at mental math than I was!

What do you admire about your students?

A vast majority of my students have other full-time commitments that they have to balance against studying. I’m consistently awed by their tenacity in getting through the material and working to pursue their dreams.
